Torque Fest 2012

So for the past few years we have been hearing about a great rally called Torque Fest. And we’ve never been able to attend due to other events that were always conflicting. Well this year we were determined to go, so we loaded up and headed up to Maquoketa, Iowa.

The vibe at Torque Fest is all about pre-65 no billet traditional style hot rods and bikes. There is a real garage built feeling to the event that really shines through; there aren’t a lot of trailer queens rolling around.

If you participate in the show you get your chance to take laps on the dirt track, where you will see hot rods of all shapes and sizes sliding through corners and performing all manner of debauchery out on the track. There are good bands, good food and great people, to top it off its all for a great cause. All gate proceeds go to Helping Hanna’s Heart.

If that’s not enough to get you to check out next year’s show, take a look at our video and see what we found.

About the Author:

Patrick Garvin began his stint with J&P Cycles at the start of 2008 after doing some installs for us at Daytona and Sturgis for two years. Currently, Patrick splits his time between the eCommerce team and purchasing, finding new and exciting products for our website and catalog. When he’s not at his desk, he’s zigzagging across the country with J&P’s event crew. Patrick has an obsession with going fast on just about anything, a trait he shares with his 6-year-old son Race. You can usually find both of them wrenching in the garage or ripping through the fields on dirt bikes. Emma, his beautiful wife of 7-plus years, puts up with his antics and keeps his head screwed on because he certainly wouldn’t be able to find it without her.

Loved the video. I’ll definitely have to take in that show. Saw more cool and original bikes there in 3 minutes than I’ve seen at Daytona Bikeweek in the past 3 years, and believe me I’m looking when I go there.
