Shoei RF-SR helmet review

“A wind tunnel designed full faced helmet at an affordable price. $399.99 MSRP”

The Shoei RF-SR helmet is designed for upright riding, making it an excellent choice for touring and cruiser riders. The low profile, lightweight, wind tunnel design cuts through the wind with minimal buffeting and noise.

Shoei is known for building a quality helmet and the RF-SR does not disappoint. This is the least expensive full faced helmet in Shoei’s line up and the fit and finish is still excellent. The paint and the clear coat is smooth and even with no noticeable blemishes. The vents and levers have a sturdy feel. This you would think that this helmet is much more expensive than it actually is due to the quality.

The face shield provides a perfect field of vision with no distortion. The included Pinlock lens prevents fogging in cold weather. When fully closed the shield is firmly seated flush with the shell.  The seal is wind and water tight.  When the shield is lifted it stays put even at highway speeds.  The shield can be cracked just enough to let air through but still keeps bugs and debris out. The shield can easily be changed and there are several options available, including a photochromic option.

The helmet has three vents. One in the chin and two above the face shield.  The two above the face shield vent out the back. Airflow through the vents is excellent. The cooling effect is as good as any helmet that I’ve ever used.  It stays comfortable, even on the hottest days.

The liner is comfortable and has a high quality feel to it. The liner is fully removable and cleanable. It can also be replaced, which is nice because sometimes washing just isn’t enough. The liner can be fine-tuned for a tailored fit with optional sizes of check pads and center liners available. It also has pockets in the ear holes for speakers. The interior is as good as it gets.

The noise level in this helmet is superior to most helmets on the market. It might not be as quiet as the more expensive helmets out there but it is close. It’s by far quieter than any cheaper helmet that I’ve ever used.

Its low noise level, excellent ventilation, and light weight design make for a helmet that is comfortable for all day long riding in any conditions.

Keep it on two wheels, Justin Fritz

It sounds really nice, but I have to have my son show me how to listen to my music that’s on my iPhone. I ride a 2009 FLHX Street Glide. I depend on the speakers in the fairing. As of right now I ware a good half helmet. It has the two snakes 🐍 one on each side and reads. “DON’T TREAD ON ME” across the back. Fulmar makes the helmet. I love the helmet, but it’s cold in the winter months. To make matters worse my hearing is not as good as it use to be. Thank you for the information, I’ve enjoyed reading all about it.
