It’s not too late to make plans to visit Anamosa, Iowa, the weekend after next– June 3 through 5 — to take part in the first-ever National Motorcycle Museum Vintage Rally. A swap meet, vintage bike show and dedication of the museum’s new Motorcycles at Work exhibit are just a few of the happenings on the informal agenda for this event. And since you’re going to be in the area anyway, you might as well check out progress on the 1930 gas station restoration project.
The Vintage Bike Show, sponsored by Motorcycle Classics magazine, will focus on bikes 1985 and older. Bring out your American, British, Japanese and European motorcycles, scooters and minis, racing, street and custom bikes to take part in this great event. Ace Café is also sponsoring an award for the best Café racer-style motorcycle entered in the Customs and Specials Class. Registration is $20 per bike.
Have you got some vintage motorcycle items you’d like to swap? Booth spaces for the swap meet are still available. Or enjoy a stroll through the museum and see more than 300 vintage motorcycles from around the world, as well as countless pieces of artwork and motorcycling memorabilia.
A Sunday morning ride and lunch will be held, hosted by Motorcycle Classics. Afterward, stick around to witness the Midwest Hillclimbers’ 62nd annual Motorcycle Hill Climb and Swap Meet, which is just down the road and across the Wapsipinicon River from the museum. This event will include a special Vintage Hill Climb class, sponsored by the National Motorcycle Museum and J&P Cycles, with a $500 cash purse.
Mark your calendar and plan to attend! Admission for this event is $10 a day, $20 for the weekend or $30 for the weekend with lunch on Sunday. If you want to take part in the weekend with lunch, register now. The event price includes admission to the museum.
See you there!
