If you call Eastern Iowa home, you are likely aware of the big annual motorcycle weekends around Anamosa: the National Motorcycle Museum’s Vintage Rally and Midwest Hillclimbers Association Hillclimb the first weekend in June; J&P’s annual Open House the last weekend in June and the Museum’s Sidecar Rally and Midwest Hillclimbers Association Hillclimb the weekend after Labor Day.
This Saturday, Sept. 8, the Museum is hosting the 9th Annual East Central Iowa Sidecar Rally from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Catch sidecars from around the Midwest, enjoy food, vendors and raffle prizes.
Sunday, Sept. 9 is the Hillclimb and Swap Meet. Swap Meet kicks off the festivities at 10 a.m. followed by Hillclimb at noon. If you haven’t seen this before, you need to check it out.
On Monday, the 2012 Motorcycle Cannonball Endurance Run will make an overnight stop at the National Motorcycle Museum. See over 75 pre-1930 antique motorcycles straight off 1,000 plus miles on the road. Riders should begin arriving at the Museum around 4:45 p.m. Monday. The motorcycles on the ride will be on display once they arrive until 6:30 p.m. In an effort to welcome the riders and visitors the Museum will be open until 8pm on Monday.
If you’re in the area and looking for something to do, a visit to Anamosa this weekend is a must. And, while you’re here make sure to stop by the J&P Cycles Showroom!
