The smoke was rolling as Carl Fay, J&P Cycles’ Sturgis Retail Manager, and Patrick Garvin, Video Merchant, started their burnouts and sped away to break the ribbon commemorating the official opening of the J&P Cycles Sturgis store.
Over 150 local Sturgis community members joined us for our ribbon cutting on Monday, June 1, including Sturgis Mayor Mark Carstensen, Sturgis City Council members, the Sturgis rally event team and area business leaders.
Since the store opened, we’ve had nearly 1,400 customers come through the door. Nearly 800 of those customers walked through the doors the first day. “Yesterday (Thursday) has been our best day yet, and we only expect to continue to grow,” says Tara Blanchard, J&P Cycles Director of Retails & Events.
According to Shelley Ott, J&P Cycles Sturgis Retail Sales & Service Supervisor, many of our customers have presented their military ID to take advantage of J&P Cycles’ military discount. “It is an honor to serve so many who have served us,” she added. J&P Cycles offers a 10% in-store discount at all of our retail locations for active-duty US military personnel and veterans.
Fay said, “We are extremely pleased to open our doors year-round to Sturgis and the surrounding communities as well as to the millions of traveling riders passing through. Activities are planned to showcase our retail center as a key destination for bikers visiting Sturgis during the riding season and especially during the celebration of the 75th Sturgis motorcycle rally.”
