The Discovery Channel recently has announced a new mini-series for 2016 that has everyone in the V-twin world buzzing; Harley and the Davidsons. Based on a true story the series will portray the passion of two 19 year old kids who built an empire from their backyard.

Game of Thrones stars Michiel Huisman as Walter Davidson and Robert Aramayo as William S. Harley with The Little Rascals star Bug Hall as Arthur Davidson will portray the men who built the current day American legend that is Harley Davidson.

The series will take America back to Milwaukee during the early 1900’s an era of innovation where young William S. Harley and Arthur Davidson engineered the motorcycles and later the company. During a time of great social and technological change the series tells an epic story of crashes, family feuds, and American legends. This rare scripted drama from Discovery Channel is set to premiere sometime this year.

Compiled from Game of Thrones star to play Harley-Davidson pioneer in miniseries. James Hibberd, Entertainment Weekly. January 7th, 2016.

They probably couldn’t do it now the EPA or some government entity would kill it.

Unfortunately Raw T.V., who are making this for Discovery, are not interested in telling the real history. We at the Davidson Legacy have offered to share the Scottish history (William.C. was born in Scotland) and Jean Davidson has also offered her advice….. only to be ignored. The folks at Raw T.V. said this series will be a drama, not a historically correct piece.
    What a missed opportunity.

It is truly a shame, could be a great drama and still be historically correct.

Quite frankly I wondered if Jean Davidson was going to be consulted or not.
She had published some wonderful books that I own and highly endorse her work.
I’m a big Harley fan and heavily invested in machines, just ask my local dealer.
I was hoping this would be done by a reputable company for Discovery.
Really needs to be a History Channel deal perhaps.
        Hey Discovery…….Keep it honest.

          Well said Ken,

The problem is that these programs will be aired and repeated forever…. then folks start to believe the content just because the wrong story is repeated over and over again.

          • Ken February 10, 2016 at 10:23 am

            I completely agree.
The producers should consult H-D and others in the family if they want the facts. It’s really a shame to see a work of fiction done on such a legacy and piece of Americana.
I love the museum and visit annually. All they would need to do is request help.
Perhaps they don’t want to pay for it.

      • Davidson Legacy February 10, 2016 at 6:47 am

Very true Jim, we are baffled at the lack of integrity.

    • Tc September 6, 2016 at 7:12 am

It’s not even period or time Era correct. Couldn’t even manage to use the correct American flag for the time period.

I am very eager to watch this.
I am a student of the Motor Company and have read many books, visited with Davidson’s and been many times to the Museum in Milwaukee which is a “must-see” for any American.
I’m glad they are doing this. Perhaps this will help folks see what it was like to launch a business from your backyard back in the days when Milwaukee was “Machine Shop to the world” and become a huge success.
These boys were trying to create a motor that they would mount to bicycles which would allow them to ride out to their fishing hole quicker and get back home.
Necessity is the Mother of Invention they say.

This is really great. What history. Should be a good watch.
