The internet is exploding with posts and and comments about the release of Harley Davidson’s new Milwaukee Eight 107″ V-Twin engine. Most people are forming their opinions on specs and media content. I’m not one to judge on appearance, so I decided to find out for myself if it lives up to the hype.
Today I had the chance to test ride the 2017 Street Glide with the all new Milwaukee Eight engine. Let me begin by saying that I went in expecting to be unimpressed. Just like the old guys were when the Evolution engine came out, I was unimpressed when I read about the new offering from HD. … Continue Reading

Recently I installed a set of Pirelli Night Dragon tires on my Dyna. I heard mixed reviews from the local “Bike Night” guys but wanted to try them out myself. Being that I ride around 40,000 miles a year, I am always looking to find a tire that suits my riding style. My style is pretty aggressive. I would say that the tires fit the bill.
The rear tire started it’s life on my bike just as all the previous tires I’ve ran: clutch dumped at 5,000 RPM to do a little rolling burnout on the slick new tire. When I did my ritual on this tire, I was shocked … Continue Reading

I remember the very moment when I first wanted a Harley-Davidson Sportster. I was scrolling through #motorcycles on Instagram when I came across a photo of an Iron 883 equipped with a Roland Sands Design (RSD) Slant 2 into 1 Exhaust. I spent days obsessing over the photo. The stainless steel exhaust design provided the WOW factor I wanted in a bike. It’s crazy how much one photo changed my life. I bought a Sportster and immediately wanted to customize it. I started researching aftermarket parts and quickly learned that if you’re looking for quality, performance, and style, Roland Sands Design makes the best products for just about everything you … Continue Reading

Day 1: 08.02.16
It was 7:00 a.m. and I was at Buc-ee’s fueling up my trusty Dyna Defender for an adventure. If you’re not familiar with the name, Buc-ee’s is a giant convenience store with 60 or so gas pumps and every snack food you could imagine. It’s just one of the things that Texas has that is a bit larger than life. Four of my coworkers were there as well, and we were all in good spirits looking forward to the ride. Zach was on a custom Road Glide, Jay was on his favorite Road King that he has set up to his liking, Rob was on his daily … Continue Reading
One of the fastest ways to add some comfort and style to your bike is to change out your handlebars. This simple job along with a few other minor changes can change the look and feel of your entire bike and it is something you can do in a couple of hours with basic tools.
If you have never attempted to change out your handlebars, it really is not a difficult job and is relatively the same procedure on all different style bikes. Like any job proper preparation is key to being successful with little frustration.
The first part of the job is to determine what the look and … Continue Reading
Over the past 20+ years working in the motorcycle industry I have had the opportunity to meet all kinds of people. Unlike some of the other industries, the motorcycle industry is really quite small. Over the years I have seen so many people come in and go out of the industry, but there is also a core group of people that remain constant. You see them at the events or at the rallies and they are always there doing something in the industry. From time to time you will see someone working with one company and then later that year you will see them working for someone else in the … Continue Reading

When you are headed out on a long trip, having the right stuff in your saddlebag can mean the difference between a good time and a bad time. Being out on the road alone can be daunting and having someone to stop and “help” you can even be scary. Being properly prepared is key to make sure you have an enjoyable trip and reach your destination. We spoke to our riders here at J&P and asked them to tell us the key items they carry and why. Some of these items can change depending on the style of riding you do, or even what type of bike you ride. Someone … Continue Reading
There has been a lot of discussion and speculation over the last few years about the new Indians and how they would be accepted in the market. It seems pretty evident now that the Indians are being accepted well and are here to stay, at least for a while.
This brings up an interesting point. When Indian and Victory stepped into the market they inadvertently did something amazing. They gave the American V-Twin buyer a choice! Comparing the Indian Chieftain and the HD Street Glide the question is, which bike is better for you?
There are quite a few things to consider when you are looking into buying a new … Continue Reading
