Jessica Ruse of Urban Custom Bikes (TeamURBAN) rolled into the Portland Convention Center with an old-school trike and rolled out with 2nd place at J&P Cycles Ultimate Builder Custom Bike Show in the Modified Harley class.  Jessica and her son Jacob represented the Fife, WA firm at the competition with the highly modified Harley custom.

The build started with a customer that had a Sportster and couldn’t conquer two wheels so she brought it in to TeamURBAN for a trike conversion. The customer’s roots are in hot rodding, she is a cancer survivor, and her favorite color is chrome. So the color palette was simple, flat black, metal flake … Continue Reading

Cruising Along on the
2015 Hot Bike Tour

November 3, 2015 | By: J&P Cycles

By Joe Sparrow

It is late August and I have wrapped up another Sturgis adventure when I find out from the J&P team that I am asked to cruise along with the Geico Motorcycle sponsored Hot Bike Tour. Up until a few weeks ago, I hadn’t even heard of the Hot Bike Tour so I was heading into a new adventure and not knowing what to expect. Leaving from the Wharf Rat Rally in Digby, Nova Scotia a couple days early gave me four days to travel the 2,000 miles to get to the Hot Bike Tour kickoff point in Spirit Lake, Iowa. Spirit Lake is the home of the … Continue Reading

2016 Harley-Davidson Softail Slim S Review

By Bryan Harley

Twisting the throttle on the 2016 Softail Slim S I feel I should be wearing a red, white and blue jumpsuit and carrying a star-spangled shield. Maybe it’s the big U.S. Army-style star emblazoned on the side of the tank that makes me want to channel my best Steve Rogers. Perhaps it’s the Olive Gold Denim paint that stirs up visions of World War II WLA’s. For sure it’s the way the Screamin’ Eagle Twin Cam 110B pulls like a mule that makes me feel like a superhero every time I crack the throttle because my biceps have been getting a workout gripping the handlebars tight when … Continue Reading

An early morning fire on Tuesday, Sept. 8, 2015, destroyed the Full Throttle Saloon just outside of Sturgis, South Dakota. The bar was known as “The World’s Largest Biker Bar,” and had been the subject of the truTV series “Full Throttle Saloon,” which aired for several seasons starting in 2009. The Sturgis area landmark bar was a popular destination for hundreds of thousands of bikers who show up yearly for the Sturgis Motorcycle Rally. The Full Throttle Saloon featured post-apocalyptic décor, zip lines above the amphitheater, and unique entertainment like freak shows, midget wrestling and burlesque-style dancers. The bar is owned by Michael … Continue Reading

From Sturgis to Nova Scotia

September 10, 2015 | By: Joe Sparrow

I usually look at the map about 10 minutes before leaving on a trip with very loose plans on how to get to where I’m going, but this adventure was different. Running into my Canadian friend Scott in Sturgis we decided to travel together to Nova Scotia, Canada and ultimately ended up in Digby for the Wharf Rat Rally (Canada’s largest motorcycle rally).

Scott collects Hard Rock Cafe t-shirts from all over the world, so we followed his plan and took an indirect route to eastern Canada. We stopped in St.Louis, Louisville, Indianapolis and Pittsburgh to enhance his collection which now totals 17 shirts. From there we crossed the border … Continue Reading
