One of the Little Things That Make Me Love My Job

August 5, 2014 | By: Scott Holton

Harley-davidson MotorcyclistThe other day, I had something happen that I thought I would share with all of you. Last Monday was a usual busy morning. Mondays are typically our busiest day of the week here at J&P Cycles, and July is also one of our busiest months.

In addition to my duties as a blogger, I answer e-mails from all over the world, monitor and answer questions on our Facebook page, serve as the main moderator of the J&P Cycles Forum, and split time during the week as a chat technician on the J&P website Tech Chat feature. My plate is not only full, but satisfying as well. … Continue Reading

The Smell of New Motorcycle Tires

2

July 24, 2014 | By: Jeff Maddox

TiresAh, the smell of new tires. If you’re like me, there isn’t anything better than knowing you have two new tires on your bike. I know it’s painful to the wallet to put them on, but it’s a necessary evil when you ride motorcycles. And when you really ride, putting a lot of miles on your bike it can be quite painful a couple of times a year.

Every year before I hit the road for the Sturgis Motorcycle Rally, I have new tires put on. I really struggle with it when I see I still have a few miles left on the old ones and it seems … Continue Reading

Meet the Team: April Ludeke, J&P’s Product Merchant Support

October 22, 2013 | By: Andrea Hall

AprilInstead of playing with baby dolls like other little girls her age, J&P Cycles Product Merchant Support April Ludeke spent her childhood days riding go-carts and playing in the dirt with her older siblings. A self-proclaimed Tomboy, there wasn’t much a Band-Aid couldn’t fix.

As a toddler, April rode around her hometown on the gas tank of her dad’s Honda Gold Wing. He always told her, “If you can reach you can ride.” To this day, she takes that expression to heart as she grips the ape hangers on her 2006 Dyna Wide Glide, which she named Walter, because it sounded like a reliable old man that would … Continue Reading

Allstate Rider Risk Map Flags Risky Areas for Riders

3

July 30, 2013 | By: J&P Cycles

allstate-rider-mapLast year, our friends at Allstate Motorcycle Insurance implemented the Once is Never Enough (ONE) Campaign bringing awareness of motorcycles and motorcyclists to the greater public. The sole purchase of ONE was to build awareness of the most common causes of motorcycle crashes – collisions with motorists at intersections – and to remind drivers that looking once at intersections is never enough.

Later that same year, Allstate asked its Facebook fans to help riders stay safe by identifying dangerous intersections they have encountered. Over 1,500 people answered that call giving them a wealth of use information to help prevent accidents.

Inspired by those very responses, Allstate has created the Rider Continue Reading

How far is too far? During peak riding season we all have these “big plans” to ride some great distance, and we often do. Distance is one thing, and in my opinion, one of the best things about riding is going further than you did on the last trip.

Like a kid on a sugar high, we need a little more each time and a few more miles to get us wound up, so we ride just a little further to satisfy our wandering soul. In … Continue Reading

Get out rideEditor’s Note:What appears below is a guest blog post from veteran biker Jeff Maddox, who regularly holds court over at the JMAdog blog.

Winter was a long one – for sure! For those of you who have had to sit and look at your motorcycle from the shop stool in the garage, you may have been taking mental notes of the spring and summer to come: where to go, when to go and who might be coming with you have crossed your mind while patiently waiting to pull the bike back onto the highway. It will be a great summer if you just let it. Be patient, relax when you … Continue Reading
