Two for Tuesday: Sedona’s in a Groove With its ATV and UTV Tires

Fall sneaked up on us again this year, leaving some of us procrastinators hanging in the wind as ATV season gets into full swing. Like maybe purchasing those new tires for your machine that you swore you’d replace over the summer. Now’s the time for you to start researching what’s out there and you might as well start with Sedona tires.

Sedona is the fastest-growing ATV tire brand in the industry, with models available for almost any demand, and a size to fit almost any machine. And they can be had for prices that are easy on your budget — all without sacrificing performance and durability.

Two for Tuesday: Dunlop Q2’s Get the Job Done on the Street

Just before I set out on my trip to Sturgis this year, I decided to throw a new set of shoes on the ZX-10R. I’d heard all the hype surrounding the Dunlop Q2’s when these tires were released a while back, what with the media claiming they were great, resulting in faster lap times and so on and so on.

But the hype still left me wondering about the tire’s abilities on the street. I was pretty certain they performed quite well at the hands of experts on the racetrack, but I had questions about how well they would operate under a bit of a whack job like myself (especially … Continue Reading

Rivera Primo Remains a Top J&P Cycles Supplier

It goes without saying that suppliers are the lifeblood of J&P Cycles, and one of our longest-running partnerships is with Rivera Primo, a quality motorcycle parts manufacturer that operates out of a 40,000-square-foot state-of-the-art facility in Whittier, Calif.

Formerly known as Rivera Engineering, Rivera Primo was founded by a television repairman named Mel Magnet who came up with the great idea back in the early ’70s to use a British carburetor on the Harley-Davidson V-twin engine. This carb, which was usually found on Jaguars and MG automobiles, was known as the SU (abbreviation for Skinners Union). The SU was fantastic right out of the box, and Mel discovered … Continue Reading

Two For Tuesday: Akrapovic Brings Its Power to Harley-Davidson

It’s not often in the motorcycle world that something truly new comes along. But in the case of longtime performance exhaust manufacturer Akrapovic, something new has come along and it’s moving pretty fast.

For years, Akrapovic has set the standard as the best of the best when it comes to performance sport bike exhaust systems, a factoid that is reinforced by the many factory superbike teams that install them on their bikes at the highest levels of racing.

And now, Akrapovic has made the decision to cross over a bit, releasing a new line of exhaust equipment for late-model Harley-Davidson motorcycles. They brought with them an innate ability for … Continue Reading

J&M ‘Rokks’ the House

Let’s face facts. Stock sucks. Doesn’t matter if we’re talking about stock pipes, stock air cleaner, stock windshield or stock seat. Hell, the motorcycle industry is based on the very idea that “stock sucks.” If stock didn’t suck there’d be no need for  an Arlen Ness or a Jesse James. If stock didn’t suck, you wouldn’t be reading this right now. You’d be out on your  stock bike put-putting down the street.

So now that we’ve established the lameness of stock, why are you rocking a stock stereo in your bagger? I’m pretty sure you ditched the stock mufflers the minute you rolled into your garage, trading … Continue Reading

Revolutionary Tire Sealant from Ride-On – [VIDEO]

There are a couple of things I prefer not happen to me while perched atop my faithful machine. One of them is getting a flat tire. The idea of picking up a nail or some other form of road shrapnel bothers me for two reasons: One, most of the time I’m clipping along at a good rate of speed, and the thought of sharp debris attaching itself to one of my tires and shredding it into tiny pieces while I am hurling myself through a corner is upsetting to say the least.

Two, if I manage to survive the tire blowout unscathed, there’s the less dramatic issue of being in … Continue Reading

Garage Openers are So Yesterday – Just Toggle Your Headlight Switch

Nothing takes the fun out of a daylong ride than returning home after dark and discovering your garage door opener is in the pocket of the denims you stuffed in your saddlebags earlier in the day. You’re fumbling around with your gear in the darkened driveway and you can’t see the nose on your face, let alone a small box with a button on it.

After this happened to me a few times, I made my garage “smart” by installing motion-activated lights at every entrance to the garage. It’s nice to have a light kick on when I get home, and I went the easy route. Instead of getting all … Continue Reading

Running the Brammo Enertia Through Its Paces

So there we were, on duty at Daytona Bike Week, selling every J&P Cycles part imaginable for your motorcycle, when the folks from Brammo Motorcycles approached us, asking if we’d mind taking their new electric motorcycle out for a test spin.

You don’t have to ask J&P’s Patrick Garvin that question twice. Grabbing up a camera and microphone, Patrick and the film crew walked out to the speedway and climbed aboard a unique looking electric bike. Weaving between palm trees like they were traffic cones, Patrick returned from a spin around the speedway for a quick on-air review of the ride.

Coming from a gas-powered bike, he said, the Brammo … Continue Reading
