Whether good or bad, we’ve all had our moments. At my age there isn’t a day that goes by that I don’t either forget something or “think” I forgot something. Sometimes I spend more time looking for it and/or thinking about it way more than it’s worth. Amazingly, it’s usually something that isn’t important.
What does this have to do with motorcycling? I’m the kind of biker who needs saddlebags. The bigger, the better. Being an all-season rider, I carry a lot of extra gear. Two rain suits, extra gloves because as the weather changes or at my age you lose one (and you never lose both), sunglasses… Continue Reading
Editor’s Note:The following is the second in a series by J&P’s own Rick Jessen to show you what can be done to personalize your motorcycle with a little imagination and a J&P Cycles catalog. A plus, one doesn’t need to spend a fortune on custom, fabricated one-of-a-kind parts.
So now you have seen how this bike looked when I bought it (The Evolution of My Evolution – Part I), let’s continue with the first phase of changes. I have not been known as a person who uses a windshield, but since I turned 60 last year I thought I could use a small shield. I purchased … Continue Reading
J&P Cycles’ Iowa showroom underwent some noticeable layout changes in the last few weeks with the restructuring of the soft goods and metric areas of the store. A major reason for restructuring was to give the ever expanding metric parts area a bigger footprint. This redesign provided an opportunity to not only remerchandise existing parts, but to eliminate slow moving and discontinued parts and add a selection of some of the newest parts on the market.
An added bonus of the redesign is the better traffic flow provided. Previously with the clothing located directly in front of the middle counter, the main counter where purchases are made, congestion was frequently … Continue Reading

A below the knee amputee, Rick loves giving back and does so by assisting the disabled with their disability applications. When not working or helping others, Rick and his wife, love riding their Shovelhead.
This first blog in a series from Rick is to show you what can be done to personalize your motorcycle with a little imagination and a J&P Cycles catalog. A plus, one … Continue Reading

There’s one constant that remains true in motorcycling and it’s this: All of us have different tastes and opinions about what we ride. Just read the biker forums and comments on Facebook and you’ll see constant buzz about what somebody rides or what they should do to their ride.
I’m certainly among those with an opinion or two. Just take a look at my bikes and you’ll see a theme. These motorcycles are all purpose-built to be quick and agile, with no added radios, cup holders or luggage — pretty much just keys and a seat. The problem with this, of course, is that when I’m out all day or … Continue Reading
