Kuryakyn Lower Fork Cover Install

January 8, 2015 | By: Patrick Garvin

Towards the end of last year we added a Victory to the current stable of J&P motorcycles, a Cross Country to be exact. We immediately started modifying it starting with some Vance and Hines mufflers and then during Biketoberfest we did a series of Ness upgrades smack dab in the middle of the rally. The Ness installs were rather extensive, including a raked set of triple trees to accommodate our 23” wheel along with Ness modular handlebars, foot and hand controls and a whole slew of billet accessories. But we’re not done yet, while we sit snowbound here in Iowa we are going to continue with our modification.

Do It Yourself! See How to Change Oil, Other Fluids

15

December 29, 2014 | By: J&P Cycles

It’s an old adage, but it’s true – a few quarts of oil is cheaper than a new motor, transmission, etc. More often than not it’s not about the money. It’s about not having the time to do it, or maybe not having the knowledge, which leads to doubting yourself and worrying that you will possibly tear your beloved motorcycle up.

Have no fear, J&P Cycles is here to help. There is nothing we like more than our customers spinning wrenches and working on their own machines. We took a little time to walk you through the typical fluid changes on a late-model Harley bagger. For “most” Harleys this will … Continue Reading

Kawasaki is Now Taking Orders!

December 15, 2014 | By: Scott Holton

A couple weeks ago, I blogged about the new mechanized two wheeled marvel coming down the line from Kawasaki. Last week, I saw where they are actually at the point of taking orders. Here, you can pre-order an H2 or the monstrous H2R here. The first thing that jumps out at me on both bikes is the MSRP. Holy Buckets!!

I shared these two links with a number of my co-workers here at J&P Cycles, and asked for some input and feedback. Understand, a number of those polled are Harley enthusiasts, some Metric specialists, and some general motorcycle enthusiasts.

I think I laid out my own drooling thoughts … Continue Reading

Biker Tunnel VisionSo 2015 is upon us. Every New Year is an opportunity to take life by the bars and make it epic! If you are the type to make those quick resolutions that just never take hold, here’s a challenge for you: try harder, go farther and make every day count.

I am convinced that 2015 will be a great year. I’m already making plans for what it is I’m going to accomplish and just because motorcycles are going to be involved only makes it better. Not only am I going to travel as far as I can every chance I get, but I’m also setting some personal goals that will … Continue Reading

2015 Kawasaki Vulcan S

December 5, 2014 | By: J&P Cycles

Kawasaki Vulcan SKawasaki released a bad little cruiser called the Vulcan S recently. Powered by a 649cc Parallel Twin wrapped in cool-looking bodywork and a low-slung, sporty-chassis, it is aimed right at new riders, female riders and anyone else who is looking for a budget-friendly cruiser that looks great without breaking the bank. With an MSRP of $7399 for the base model and a few hundred bucks more for the optional ABS-equipped version, the Vulcan S should attract a few buyers who want a good looking bike to start on.

One of the primary selling points of the stock Vulcan S is that the riding position is fully adjustable. This is made … Continue Reading

Demise of the Metric Market

November 25, 2014 | By: Lowell Anderson

Star RaiderOne of the big issues we always have here at J&P Cycles is trying to make sure we have a good offering of parts for our customers to choose from. This may seem easy to some, but it usually turns out to be a real challenge. There are a lot of things to consider when adding parts into the product line. We want to make sure we offer parts that have a purpose and meet a need. We want to make sure they are of good quality and that they fit correctly. We want to make sure that the vendor stands behind their product and can deliver it in a … Continue Reading

Guest Blogger Maddox Shares How He Spots a Motorcyclist

November 15, 2014 | By: Jeff Maddox

Playful boy sitting in a box at homeIt goes without saying, but I’ll say it anyway – we are all bikers here. How do I know this? How can I tell if you’re a rider or a wannabe rider? It’s easy because it takes one to know one. Here are a few things that truly give it away.

1) Do you smell like a strange concoction of “outside” and exhaust? Of course you do. You either ride a motorcycle or you spend time on the back of one. If we could put this smell into a bottle and sell it, it would be called “Lifestyle.”

2) When was the last time you looked in a mirror? It’s … Continue Reading
