It’s showtime! For months we’ve been working overtime putting the details together for J&P’s 35th Annual Open House Rally. We had to go all out this year since 2014 marks our 35th year in business! A year ago, we decided this event would turn into a three-day extravaganza.
The FREE Open House Rally will open to the public at noon on Friday, June 27, and be open until 7 p.m. Be the first to see all the latest parts from manufacturers like: Kuryakyn, Mustang, Progressive Suspension, Roland Sands Design and Vance & Hines, to name a few. Installations are available onsite for all parts and … Continue Reading
I’m sure most of you have heard the bombshell that Mother Harley has introduced their first electric powered motorcycle. What a shocker (pun intended)! Today, we are going to look at this new, interesting design and share what we have been able to glean from the information available. I’m fortunate enough to know someone who has intimate knowledge of this fascinating project from whom I can get real, accurate answers to my questions.
First things first, let’s establish that HD has not gone into production on this. They have produced a number of initial offerings to trek across the country to gauge customer interest. There will be no loaners and … Continue Reading
Describing a motorcycle tire as a round, black piece of rubber that’s about a two-foot diameter circle won’t give you the information you need to make a smart buying decision, will it? When it comes to tires, particularly the ones you plan to use on your motorcycle, information is a very handy thing to have. This is especially true if you’re interested in replacing those tires and even more so if you plan to replace them with something other than the OEM tires.
To make it a little easier, the tire manufacturers have come up with nomenclature that describes everything you need to know about your tire and printed it … Continue Reading
Motorcycle Jacket Buyers Guide
Here at J&P we’re passionate about riding and with that passion comes lots of knowledge surrounding gear, specifically jackets. Our team’s jacket collection includes everything from high-tech textile to traditional leather and vintage biker-wear (also known as jackets some have owned since the beginning of time).
We are firm believers that a biker can never have too many jackets and specific jackets for extreme riding conditions are a must! The motorcycle jacket is our second most prized possession and should be chosen carefully.
Since bikes first roamed the earth, the road ahead has been paved with leather, or at least it should have been. Ah, the … Continue Reading

This time of year always makes me smile when I think back to some of the motorcycles I’ve owned over the past 40 years. As the weather clears, my mind shifts from worrying about the unpredictability of weather to riding more miles on my bike. I love how these memories always put me back on the bikes I used to own. We all have these memories of motorcycles we used to ride, and over the years I’ve owned quite a few (some I would even like to have back and others not so much). Rest assured, every one of them got me to the place I am today. I love … Continue Reading

Harley-Davidson announced a number of updates to its touring models, a cumulative result of a product development effort the company calls “Project Rushmore.” These enhancements cover several areas, addressing performance, comfort, style and infotainment needs, and will be implemented across eight 2014 Harley-Davidson Touring models: the Road King, Street Glide, Street Glide Special, Electra Glide Ultra Classic, Electra Glide Ultra Limited, the Tri-Glide Ultra Classic trike and the CVO Road King and CVO Limited.
Per Harley, “Project RUSHMORE has been touched by thousands of people, most of them being our customers and our employees,” says Scott Habegger, Harley-Davidson Director of Motorcycle Planning. “The voice of the customer is represented not … Continue Reading
May is Motorcycle Safety Awareness Month and it’s up to us to spread the word, and lead by example. We all ride, but we all drive too so when we are behind the wheel it is important to take extra care when driving. As you might know, the majority of car-motorcycle related accidents are caused by drivers pulling out in front of a rider. The resulting accidents are one of the leading causes of rider fatalities over the past decade, so make sure to take an extra moment before pulling into the street. We all expect drivers to be attentive, but as riders we cannot forget to give our fellow … Continue Reading

Editor’s Note: Back in November, we introduced you to Joe Cowan, J&P Cycles Network Administrator. At the time of the blog being published, Joe was in transition from our Iowa headquarters to Daytona Superstore. Unfortunately, shortly after arriving in Florida, Joe was involved in an accident. He shared his story with readers. What follows is an update on how he’s been.
Since my motorcycle accident, back on November 20, 2013, I have come a long way. After wrist and shoulder surgeries, and the cable holding my clavicle slipping a week after surgery, my arm was strapped to my side for almost nine weeks. Now my clavicle looks like … Continue Reading
