John and Jill (1)April is National Donate Life Month, and today happens to be Donate Life Blue and Green Day, a day set aside specifically to spread awareness about organ, eye and tissue donation and transplantation.

J&P Cycles has a special connection to this effort as our founder John Parham received a life-saving lung transplant almost four years ago. As you may recall, we shared John’s story from waiting for a lung to his recovery just a week after his lung transplant and his last update, a year post-surgery, here on the J&P blog.

Klock Werks Supporting Organ Donation, Family Through Tattooed for Life Raffle Bike

Our friends over at Klock Werks are raffling off an awesome 2010 tricked out Victory Kingpin next Friday, Oct. 26. The bike, Tattooed for Life, honors two men close to the Klock Werks family who were tragically killed in different accidents and represents the importance of organ donation.

Twenty-nine-year old Vic Briggs, a Klock Werks team member, was lost in automobile accident in late June of 2011. Austin Shimon, 20, a close friend of the Klock Werks family, passed away after a motorcycle accident in 2009. Both Vic and Austin were organ donors, and through their selfless gifts, were able to save the lives of others awaiting organ donation.… Continue Reading

J&P Cycles Founder John Parham Urges You to Become an Organ Donor

In the two years since I was given a second chance at life, approximately 13,000 people have died due to a lack of available organs for transplant. While I am thankful for my chance, I pray others get the needed second chance in order to move on.

Many of you know the story of my illness leading to the need for a lung transplant. Since receiving my transplant, I have had my share of ups and downs – a couple of illnesses have put me back in the hospital, but luckily I’ve been able to fight off the infections with the assistance of modern medicine and some great doctors.
