John Parham, founder and former president of J&P Cycles, picks up the Don J. Brown Lifetime Achievement Award today during ceremonies at the 2012 Dealer Expo and American V-Twin Dealer Show in Indianapolis, Indiana.

Doubtless you know that J&P Cycles is the world’s largest aftermarket motorcycle parts and accessories retailer online, and John will be recognized at a luncheon today for his lifetime of dedication to the motorcycle industry — most recently for his efforts in creating the National Motorcycle Museum in Anamosa, Iowa, which is also home to J&P’s headquarters. There are a couple of things I prefer not happen to me while perched atop my faithful machine. One of them is getting a flat tire. The idea of picking up a nail or some other form of road shrapnel bothers me for two reasons: One, most of the time I’m clipping along at a good rate of speed, and the thought of sharp debris attaching itself to one of my tires and shredding it into tiny pieces while I am hurling myself through a corner is upsetting to say the least.

Two, if I manage to survive the tire blowout unscathed, there’s the less dramatic issue of being in … Continue Reading

D30 Riding Armor on This Jacket Protects the Rider

April 15, 2011 | By: Patrick Garvin

We found ourselves virtually surrounded by products for Harley-Davidsons, metric cruisers, scooters and off-road. And the J&P crew was everywhere, scouring the enormous show floor in a search for new innovative items to offer our customers.

We picked up so much new stuff that it’d be difficult to catalog it all here, but we’ve highlighted a couple of new products that you can purchase … Continue Reading

One of the coolest things about being a motorcycle enthusiast is the ability to share that enthusiasm with other motorcycle enthusiasts. There are tons of different shows throughout the year that allow us to swap stories, exchange ideas and talk shop.

Some events are based on having a good time and others are centered on a specific ride, celebration or activity. There are benefit rides, poker runs, open houses (J&P has a good one if you’ve never been), and massive “happenings” like Sturgis and Bike Week.  There are specialized events that cater to specific groups of riders, such as the annual Vintage Days gathering in Ohio for those … Continue Reading
