What’s that rumbling sound? In addition to the pounding of tools as tents are being set up, colorful 18-wheelers are rolling into the surrounding parking lots, and there are bikes – lots of bikes!
It’s time for the 73rd Bike Week, a time when people from all around the world flock to the Daytona Beach, FL area. Tourists come here to not only meet with and speak to all kinds of motorcycle vendors, and fellow riders, but those in cooler climates like to head south to also escape winter’s fury. During the day there are plenty of activities to keep you busy, but what exactly is there to do … Continue Reading
Just about everywhere in the US has been touched by old man winter’s hand this year. Here in the midwest we have had a particularly brutal winter, and I’m pretty much fed up with it. The bitter cold, snow and blustering wind have run their course with most of us. I have a solution for you my fellow two wheel fanatics, even if spring isn’t on your horizon for another 6-8 weeks!
Daytona Bike Week is here to save us from our winter time misery! Strap your scooter in the back of your van and point it south. J&P Cycles will have two locations chocked full of the latest and … Continue Reading
Last year, our friends at Allstate Motorcycle Insurance implemented the Once is Never Enough (ONE) Campaign bringing awareness of motorcycles and motorcyclists to the greater public. The sole purchase of ONE was to build awareness of the most common causes of motorcycle crashes – collisions with motorists at intersections – and to remind drivers that looking once at intersections is never enough.
Later that same year, Allstate asked its Facebook fans to help riders stay safe by identifying dangerous intersections they have encountered. Over 1,500 people answered that call giving them a wealth of use information to help prevent accidents.
Editor’s Note: Joan Krenning purchased her first motorcycle, a brand new Harley-Davidson Softail Custom in 1986. In February of this year she launched on a 36-month motorcycle tour of America that she calls, the Glory US-A Freedom Ride. Riding a 2013 Street Glide wrapped in graphics of the Constitution of the United States, the Declaration of Independence and quotes from Abraham Lincoln about equality, her purpose is three-fold: to promote the purchase of all made in American products, to passionately defend our Bill of Rights and the rights of all Americans and to inspire hope.
You won’t find any velvet ropes surrounding the bikes at Willie’s Tropical Tattoo Old School Chopper Show during Daytona Bike Week. In this video we give you access to an old school anti-establishment bike show dripping with American ingenuity and craftsmanship. It’s all about fun bikes built to ride by people who love motorcycles – enjoy!
Bike Week signifies the beginning of the riding season for many riders across the nation. Attending the event stirs up the senses and resurrects the feeling of freedom that can only be obtained on a motorcycle traveling the open road. One of the only things that can make that feeling better is sharing the road with fellow riders and enthusiasts who share the passion for anything on two wheels!
History has shown that the kickoff to the AMA Pro Flat Track Championship presented by J&P Cycles in Daytona Beach, FL is always full of surprises. This year was no exception. During last night’s season opener, Mikey Rush of California won the second national of his career. His first win came at the old Municipal Stadium short track in Daytona in 2007.
Last year, during the 2012 season opener, two first time winners, Johnny Lewis #10 and Matt Weidman #20, both won their very first AMA Grand National Flat Track events.
Defending 2012 AMA Pro Grand National Champion Jared Mees jumped out with the holeshot at the start of the … Continue Reading
The reigning champion of the 2012 Baker Smokedown Showdown in Sturgis is J&P Cycles’ own Gorilla suit wearing Patrick Garvin. This Wednesday, he’ll face 12 other participants in Daytona during the Bike Week Baker Smokedown Showdown.
The Smokedown Showdown begins at 8 p.m. on Wednesday, March 13, at the Iron Horse Saloon on North US Highway 1, Ormond Beach. Take part in the chaos as the Baker’s Dozen of industry builders, TV personalities and celebrities go head-to-head in a drag style burnout competition.

It’s time to step out of our usual V-Twin cruiser niche and take a look at another aspect of the motorcycling universe. Last weekend I went to the AMA Monster Energy Supercross in Atlanta, Georgia. This is a traveling circus that crisscrosses the country for 16 weeks culminating in the season finale in Las Vegas.
Supercross, for those not familiar, is basically a condensed version of motocross that is held in everything from football stadiums to the tri-oval at Daytona International Speedway. It features close racing, lots of bar banging and high flying jumps. This is a young man’s sport in which some of the best athletes in the world … Continue Reading
