I’m a gearhead. 100% dyed in the wool lover of all things mechanical. Before me, my father was a gearhead, too. He owned and raced open cockpit, open wheel cars in the Midwest. I guess the apple didn’t fall far from the tree. I have been fascinated with different configurations of the internal combustion engine my entire life. When my wife and I plan vacations, I look for places to go to feed my fix. When we went to Disney in Orlando, I made a point to spend a day at Don Garlits Museum of Drag Racing. When we went to my wife’s childhood home near DC, the Smithsonian … Continue Reading

Suspense filled the air as 60 finalists gathered around a customized 2005 Harley-Davidson Road King on Thursday night, Sept. 11, for a chance to choose a key and possibly start the giveaway machine as part of the final 2014 Hot Rods & Harleys Cruise Night series. With 60 finalists, that meant there was one real key along with 59 fake ones. When No. 2 Liza Smith of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, handed her key over to Jay Cassill of Cassill Motors, the grin on his face as he turned the key said it all – Liza was the lucky winner of the motorcycle.
This year, the Hot Rods & Harleys … Continue Reading

My brother and I were given the option of a candy bar a day or the equivalent in money, I ALWAYS took the money, he took the candy. I took care of all … Continue Reading

Instead of playing with baby dolls like other little girls her age, J&P Cycles Product Merchant Support April Ludeke spent her childhood days riding go-carts and playing in the dirt with her older siblings. A self-proclaimed Tomboy, there wasn’t much a Band-Aid couldn’t fix.
As a toddler, April rode around her hometown on the gas tank of her dad’s Honda Gold Wing. He always told her, “If you can reach you can ride.” To this day, she takes that expression to heart as she grips the ape hangers on her 2006 Dyna Wide Glide, which she named Walter, because it sounded like a reliable old man that would … Continue Reading

Last year, our friends at Allstate Motorcycle Insurance implemented the Once is Never Enough (ONE) Campaign bringing awareness of motorcycles and motorcyclists to the greater public. The sole purchase of ONE was to build awareness of the most common causes of motorcycle crashes – collisions with motorists at intersections – and to remind drivers that looking once at intersections is never enough.
Later that same year, Allstate asked its Facebook fans to help riders stay safe by identifying dangerous intersections they have encountered. Over 1,500 people answered that call giving them a wealth of use information to help prevent accidents.
