chrome-horse (2)Despite the stray snowflakes falling from the sky in parts of the Midwest today, it really is spring! At  the J&P Cycles headquarters in Eastern Iowa, we’re gearing up for our first motorcycle event of the season. Our usual Cruise Night event has a new name – Hot Rods & Harleys Cruise Night – sponsored by J&P Cycles, and a new location at the Chrome Horse Saloon in Cedar Rapids.

If you’re in the area, cruise in with your motorcycle or car and show it off! The event starts at 5:15, and live music begins at 6 p.m. Plus, enjoy great drink specials and door prizes.

SOA Cast Members Appearing at Open House Rally

Aerial 1J&P Cycles knows how to have one hell of a bash in the cornfields of Eastern Iowa! 2013 marks the 34th annual event, which is now called the J&P Cycles Open House Rally. This year’s event is scheduled for June 29-30. Founders John and Jill Parham started the original one-day event as a customer appreciation of sorts to thank their loyal customers for their business. Today that one-day event has grown into two and is bigger than ever!

Editor’s Note: The following is an article written and previously published by Angi Kearney for the Monticello Express, a weekly newspaper, located in Monticello, Iowa, just 12 miles from J&P’s headquarters. In March of 2002, the paper produced a special tabloid section featuring the stories of World War II veterans. In it, she wrote a column about both of her grandfathers’ experiences in the war.

They weren’t national heroes by any means. They were simple, hardworking young men who shared a common goal: to serve their country.

Klock Werks Supporting Organ Donation, Family Through Tattooed for Life Raffle Bike

Our friends over at Klock Werks are raffling off an awesome 2010 tricked out Victory Kingpin next Friday, Oct. 26. The bike, Tattooed for Life, honors two men close to the Klock Werks family who were tragically killed in different accidents and represents the importance of organ donation.

Twenty-nine-year old Vic Briggs, a Klock Werks team member, was lost in automobile accident in late June of 2011. Austin Shimon, 20, a close friend of the Klock Werks family, passed away after a motorcycle accident in 2009. Both Vic and Austin were organ donors, and through their selfless gifts, were able to save the lives of others awaiting organ donation.… Continue Reading

J&P Cycles Toys for Tots Run a Success

Despite a gloomy rainy Eastern Iowa Day, J&P Cycles and the Marines made the most of the first annual J&P Cycles Toys for Tots Run held Saturday, Oct. 13 at J&P Cycles. We collected hundreds of toys for less fortunate Iowa children, in addition to hundreds of dollars in cash donations.  

The band New Trick was a hit as were the Marines in attendance as they posed for photos and collected toys. If you didn’t have an opportunity to come out to the Iowa showroom this weekend to donate a new, unwrapped toy, you still have a chance to do so. Everyone is welcome to attend this event, collecting toys and raising funds for a great cause. J&P Cycles Hosts Final Cruise Night of 2012 Season

The summer sun is quickly fading here in Eastern Iowa. Anytime now the warm weather will be replaced with cooler days and brisk nights. This time of year not only means bon voyage to summer, but also the J&P Cycles Cruise Nights for the 2012 season.

This Tuesday, Sept. 11, marks the year’s final Cruise Night event. Make plans now for one last summer fun event before saying goodbye to the great season. Motorcycle Activities Galore in Anamosa, Iowa this Weekend, Monday

If you call Eastern Iowa home, you are likely aware of the big annual motorcycle weekends around Anamosa: the National Motorcycle Museum’s Vintage Rally and Midwest Hillclimbers Association Hillclimb the first weekend in June; J&P’s annual Open House the last weekend in June and the Museum’s Sidecar Rally and Midwest Hillclimbers Association Hillclimb the weekend after Labor Day.

This Saturday, Sept. 8, the Museum is hosting the 9th Annual East Central Iowa Sidecar Rally from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Catch sidecars from around the Midwest, enjoy food, vendors and raffle prizes.

Labor Day Weekend is All About Bikes in J&P’s Neighborhood

Labor Day weekend in Iowa marks one of the largest antique motorcycle swap meets and vintage flat-track races in the United States, hosted by the Chief Blackhawk Chapter of the Antique Motorcycle Club of America (AMCA), and it’s going to take place just down the road from J&P Cycles’ headquarters.

This year’s AMCA Fall National is set for Thursday, Aug. 30, through Saturday, Sept. 1, at the Mississippi Valley Fairgrounds in Davenport. The three-day event annually attracts riders and families from across the country, drawn to the dirt track to watch vintage motorcycles compete.

What we offer up here is two and a half minutes of footage that highlights the happenings at this year’s Sturgis Rally in South Dakota.
