Thomas Lock, Bern, Kansas, says he never wins anything. Well, that changed on New Year’s Eve when he received a call from a National Motorcycle Museum staffer who left a message saying he was the lucky winner of the Museum’s 2014 Fundraiser Bike – a beautiful 2014 Indian Chief Vintage.
A long-time J&P Cycles customer, Lock has been purchasing parts for his Harleys here since the mid-1990′s. His motorcycle collection includes: a 1953 Harley-Davidson FL “Panhead,” a 1988 Harley Softail and a 1100 Sportster, so the Indian will be in good company.
2014 wasn’t the first year Lock donated to the Museum in hopes to win their Fundraiser … Continue Reading

Last year, after years of hosting the Cruise Night events at our J&P Cycles showroom outside Anamosa, Iowa, we decided to try something new. A local biker hot spot in Cedar Rapids (Chrome Horse Saloon) approached us regarding joining forces to host our event on their property. We held the newly named Hot Rods & Harleys Cruise Night events there last year on the second Tuesday of the month (May through September).
This year, we added additional sponsors (Bud Light, Cassill Motors and KRNA), a great giveaway and changed the date to the second Thursday of the month (May through September). Things were going along blissfully – … Continue Reading

April is National Donate Life Month, and today happens to be Donate Life Blue and Green Day, a day set aside specifically to spread awareness about organ, eye and tissue donation and transplantation.
J&P Cycles has a special connection to this effort as our founder John Parham received a life-saving lung transplant almost four years ago. As you may recall, we shared John’s story from waiting for a lung to his recovery just a week after his lung transplant and his last update, a year post-surgery, here on the J&P blog.
In the nearly three years since that last post, John has been busy promoting his love of antique … Continue Reading
Celebrating 35 years in business this year, our founder John Parham set the bar high from the start. Top-notch customer service in addition to the best selection of parts and accessories were key. Today, J&P is the leader in the motorcycle aftermarket parts, accessories and apparel business.
In addition to highly trained customer service representatives, we take pride in the fact that we have trained motorcycle technicians on staff to answer our customers’ questions (a service no one else offers). Here’s what else makes J&P different from everyone else.… Continue Reading
It’s not too early to start thinking about this year’s J&P Cycles Open House Rally! In fact, while most of the country is in a deep freeze, it’s the perfect time to start planning that trip to the heartland of eastern Iowa this June (when it’s almost guaranteed to be much warmer).
Since 2014 is our 35th anniversary, we’re going all out! You may remember back in 2009 when we celebrated our 30th anniversary, we turned the one-day event into two days. Well, for this monumental occasion, we’re extending the rally to 3 days! The rally will kick off on Friday, June 27 and continue through Sunday, June 29. That’s … Continue Reading
Plenty of debate surrounds E15, an ethanol fuel blend made up of 85 percent gasoline and 15 percent ethanol.
Earlier this week, the American Motorcyclist Association took their stance against this further supporting U.S. Rep. Bob Goodlatte’s (R-Va.) and the RFS Reform Act of 2013 via a press release. According to the release, the bipartisan bill would amend the previously approved Renewable Fuel Standard prohibiting the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) from allowing gasoline containing more than 10 percent ethanol content into the marketplace. If the amendment is approved, E15 would no longer be permitted.
Many motorcyclists and motorcycle activists, have continually expressed their concerns about possible damage to motorcycle … Continue Reading
