If you’re into antique motorcycles, the Antique Motorcycle Club of America (AMÇA) has a pair of events going on this weekend that will make you wish you had access to the transporter room on the USS Enterprise. There’s an AMCA national event in St. Paul, Minn., and a Grand National event in Rhinebeck, N.Y. So, unless you have the above-mentioned teleportation machine from Star Trek or you own your own jet, you’re pretty much going to have to make a choice.
The Minnesota event runs Friday and Saturday at the Minnesota State Fairgrounds in St. Paul and is being presented by the Viking Chapter of the AMCA. On hand will be an expected 180 vintage motorcycles, as well as a swap meet, used bike corral and a display of every make of motorcycle ever produced in Minnesota. Other events will include a vintage bike ride to a ’60s-era drive-in theater. This is an indoor event, so plan to attend rain or shine.
Doors are open from 8:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. both days and camping/RV space is available. For more information, visit www.vikingmc.org, or watch this video about the event:
The New York Rhinebeck Grand National Meet runs from Friday to Sunday at the Dutchess County Fairgrounds in Rhinebeck, NY, and is one of the largest of the AMCA’s annual events. Presented by the AMCA’s Northeast Coalition of Chapters, this year’s meet will be highlighted by a vintage motorcycle auction with 125 antique and collectible motorcycles up for grabs. Other events include the world renowned Motorcycle Timelines, the California Hell Rider’s Wall of Death and tours of the Old Rhinebeck Aerodrome, a museum of World War I aircraft and antique vehicles.
