Andy Bell, the former freestyle motocross rider and star of the popular Nitro Circus television show on MTV, sat down to talk with our own Patrick Garvin and Lowell Anderson recently, telling us what’s coming down the pike for this crew of daredevil delinquents and to tell us about the group’s 3D film that’s coming out soon.
We’re going to assume in this instance that 3D stands for three-dimensional — not Death-Defying Destruction.
Bell is an accomplished motorcycle rider who has spent many years in the motorcycle community as a freestyle rider, businessman, and entertainer best known-for his unbelievable Big Wheel back flips. Lowell has been friends with Andy for a number of years, and got him to chat about the TV show and the new movie.
In the below YouTube interview, you’ll hear Bell talk about the drawbacks of producing your own Jackass-style format for television — the surgeries, the fractured necks, the blown knees, the broken backs. “There’s a lot of attrition,” Bell understates.
In response to a question from Patrick, Bell admits fear is a big factor for any of the Nitro Circus performers. “Anyone who tells you they’re not petrified is lying to you. There’s no backing out in our crew. Death would be a better option than the ribbing you’d get from our crew. Death or dismemberment.”
Bell says a lot of the stunts that MTV wouldn’t let them perform in the first two seasons of the show will be incorporated in the movie, which comes out either in November or December. So take a peek at YouTube interview. And then get set to see the 3D Nitro Circus Movie when it comes out over the holidays. It’s guaranteed to make you wince.
