Meet The Team: Jason Hayes, J&P Cycles Product Specialist

Jason Hayes loves the thrill of the ride. Doesn’t matter whether it’s tearing down a black diamond on his snowboard in the Adirondack Mountains, taking a dog-sled team up a steep pass in the Rockies, or flying over twisty roads on his GSRX 1000.

There’s just not a whole lot of extreme sports that Jason won’t attempt at least once. In fact, it was his love for the outdoors that sparked his passion for motorcycles.

Jason received a motorcycle technician’s degree with a specialty in Asian bikes from Wyotech in 2008. And along with the diploma came some pretty impressive technical honors.

He’s always been a rider in the field but it wasn’t until he got his degree that Jason began to take his passion and turn it into a career. He worked part-time as a retail showroom technician at J&P Cycles in 2008 while he was finishing up school.  From there, he garnered enough knowledge and skill to become the product specialist that he is today, researching the next up-and-coming product that you’ll be needing for your ride.

J&P Cycles: What compelled you to get so involved with motorcycles?

Jason Hayes: If I was going to ride them, I wanted to know exactly how to maintenance them, and that’s what started my technician training.

J&P: What did you do prior to coming to work for J&P?

JH: What didn’t I do? The best adventure was packing my life into a camper and truck and heading cross-country, where I eventually joined an adventure tour company guiding dog sleds.

J&P: What exactly do you do at J&P?

JH: I am a product specialist, which means I research new products, talk to potential vendors, and merchandise the catalogs and Internet.

J&P: What do you currently ride?

JH: On-road, I’m riding a 2008 Suzuki M109R, and off-road, I just recently acquired a 2005 Kawasaki KX250F.

J&P: What do you like most about your job with J&P Cycles?

JH: Working with people who share the same passion I do, and learning about the newest technologies on the market.

J&P: What is your dream bike?

JH: It changes all too often, but right now it would be a MotoCzysz 2010 E1pc. For the metal heads, it is an American made ELECTRIC Superbike that puts out 125hp and 250 ft/lbs of torque.

J&P: What are you currently reading?

JH: Roadbike, Dealer News, Hot Bike, Iron Works, Easy Rider, and American Iron Magazine.
