Editor’s Note: We know it was tough waiting another full month to see our latest Readers’ Ride of the Month, but life is full of such annoying anticipations. Time’s up and herewith is our latest offering — a bike so fine it was chosen as this month’s winner by our judges, all of whom are J&P staffers. If you’ve got a particularly swell ride, send us a few photographs (in focus and at least 300 dpi is preferred). If your bike is deemed worthy enough, we’ll post it right here.

This month’s ride is a 1997 Harley-Davidson FLHR-I belonging to Joel Staruck of Schenevus, N.Y.  Nice Electra Glide, right? Psych! Popping a quick-detach fairing on a Road King affords a rider the best of both worlds. Whether you want added protection and tunes on the long haul or wind in your face while cruising around town, what you’ve got here is two bikes in one. Gobs of chrome goodies and a slick Mystique Green paint job make this King of the Road one pretty tight ride. Here’s what Joel had to say about his bike:

“The bike was purchased at a salvage auction in Louisiana after Hurricane Katrina by a friend of mine. He rode it for two years in stock form and then sold it to me for only $4,000. I have done all the work on the bike myself and it now has over 75,000 miles on it. Thanks J&P for supplying my parts and featuring my ride.”

Very cool post, great looking bike.

I wish they had published the before pictures. It is a huge transformation from when I bought it.
