Every year as the weather begins its subtle change to fall and the days get shorter, Daytona Beach residents pack up their beach gear and start thinking about Biketoberfest. Out come the leather riding jackets and chaps, as well as cleaning equipment for their bikes.
In fact, the whole Florida town starts getting ready for this annual event, creating new Biketoberfest banners, directional signs and stocking up store shelves with everything even faintly related to two-wheeling.
J&P Cycles is among the residents and businesses of Daytona Beach that plan ahead for this five-day event. Every year we’re prepared for literally thousands of customers and friends to waltz through our doors during this shorter version of the world-renowned Bike Week. We begin planning months in advance, setting up vendors to display products at our Destination Daytona facility, stocking our showrooms with the latest and greatest in new product, and training our staff for this exciting event.
This year you can expect to see vendors like Mustang Motorcycle Seats, Biker’s Choice, Drag Specialties, Metzeler Tires, Custom Chrome, National Cycles, Memphis Shades and many more on the J&P Cycles’ lot. Many of these vendors will be offering installation opportunities and answering questions about their products. In addition, mechanics from “Fix Cycles” will be doing general repair and parts installations, and this year customers can get a head start going through our clearance and closeout tents, which will open early — beginning Oct. 9.
Biketoberfest promises a raft of events, including the Boardwalk Classic Bike Show at Main Street and Ocean Avenue, The Rat’s Hole World Famous Chopper Show at Daytona Lagoon, and free demo rides, courtesy of motorcycle dealers from throughout the world at the Daytona International Speedway. If you’re looking for a local watering hole, try Dirty Harry’s, the Iron Horse Saloon, the Broken Spoke Saloon, or Froggy’s Saloon — just to mention a few.
So as we continue to prepare for the 18th edition of Biketoberfest, put your vacation requests in, pack your bags and get your bike ready. We hope to see you here at this year’s event, which runs from Oct. 13-17.
