Ah, the Wing Ding. And if you’re not a member of the “in” crowd — that, of course, being Gold Wing owners — then the term has absolutely no meaning to you. Nor should it.  But if you are a proud member of the Gold Wing family, you know Wing Ding is the annual nationwide pilgrimage of Wing riders meeting up for a motorcycle rally specifically targeted for that touring machine of touring machines — the Gold Wing. The rally runs from Tuesday, June 29 through Saturday, July 3.

This year marks the 32nd installment of the Wing Ding, which, unlike most bike rallies, moves around the country from year to year and is put on by the Gold Wing Road Riders Association (GWRRA). This is J&P Cycles’ lucky year, because the Wing Ding is setting up in Des Moines, Iowa — right in our own backyard. Lucky us!

J&P Cycles will be prominent at Wing Ding with our event crew and our massive rolling showroom in tow. We’re bringing our hot of the presses Gold Wing catalog and packing our truck to the brim with brand-spanking new Gold Wing products. J&P is joining more than 150 other vendors — including Rivco, J&M Corp. and National Cycle— bringing all that is Gold Wing to the rally.

There will be demo rides from Honda, Can-Am and Lehman Trikes. Adding to that is comedy from renowned Hawaiian comedian Kermet Apio, a stunt show from Guinness World Records Holding rider Clint Ewing and a light parade through the historic Valley Junction District in West Des Moines on Thursday evening. There will also be poker runs, seminars, talent shows, drawings and plenty to eat and drink.

It all kicks off Tuesday June 29, so get your gear together, climb on your Gold Wing and point it in the direction of the Wing Ding. This is one event you don’t want to miss. See you there!
