Our 13th annual Poker Run for Camp Courageous of Iowa is scheduled Saturday, June 5, in the J&P parking lot, guaranteeing a fun-filled day with great riding, fun stops, the chance to win some cash and the opportunity to raise funds for a worthwhile cause.
Whatever you’re riding, you’ll enjoy a 100-mile run with stops at Camp Courageous, Olin, Mechanicsville, Solon, Stone City and then back to Anamosa, Iowa. Registration starts at 8:00 a.m. at J&P Cycles, just off Highway 151 in Anamosa, with the first group of riders heading out at 10:00 a.m. and the last group out at 11:00 a.m. The last group of riders will return to J&P by 3:00 p.m.
After the ride, participants will try their luck and draw for the best poker hand. First, second, third and fourth place winners will receive $150, $100, $75 and $50 in cash, respectively. Tickets will be sold for a 50/50 drawing and plenty of door prizes will be awarded to plenty of lucky riders.
Nothing makes our founders — John and Jill Parham —happier than for J&P Cycles to host this annual event. Camp Courageous is such a special organization and does tremendous things for its campers. It has been an honor for us to participate in this run for the past 13 years and we look forward to another great one in a few weeks. While we’re all hoping for unlimited sunshine and warm temperatures, if the weather doesn’t cooperate, the rain date is Saturday, Jun 12.
Registration is just $15 per person and motorcycles of any make or model are welcome to join in the fun! In the last few years, this Poker Run alone has raised more than $5,000 for Camp Courageous. We hope this year’s event will be the best yet! For more information, contact J&P Cycles at (319) 462-4817, or log on to www.jpcycles.com.
