Two For Tuesday: Breathe Deep with Arlen Ness Big Sucker Kits

Correct me if I’m wrong, but everyone wants more horsepower, right? From the hot-rodder trying to stay on top of his game, to the touring rider who just wants to make a pass on the highway with a trailer in tow, more horsepower means a more enjoyable motorcycling experience. And as everyone knows, the more air you can move in and out of your motor, the more fuel you can add, which results in generating more… you guessed it — horsepower!
In my opinion, an Arlen Ness Big Sucker Kit is quite possibly the best and simplest horsepower modification kit for your bike. Team Ness Big Sucker kits really live up to their name, bringing huge amounts of fresh air to your motor. Available in a variety of combinations, the Cheap Sucker is one of the most inexpensive yet functional kits available today. With no backing plate, and utilizing factory-exposed breather hoses and hardware, it only accepts the factory outer cover and gets the job done on the stingiest of budgets.
The Stage I kit is probably the most popular and includes an all-in-one backing plate. It also features built in carb support and breather tunnels that exit at the mouth of the carb to create a virtual closed loop breather system. Stage I kits can re-use your stock “football” cover for the ultimate sleeper look or are available with billet outer covers.
Stage II kits are similar to the Stage I, with the exception that they have a 20% larger filter for even more air flow, which requires 8” round Air Cleaner Cover. Stage II Billet kits are also available with a billet outer cover included.
Last but certainly not least is the Ness Big Sucker “Derby Cover” Air Filter Kit. The innovative minds at Arlen Ness have combined the legendary performance of the Big Sucker with the ability to match it perfectly to your bike. The 5-hole mounting system allows you to bolt on your favorite Twin Cam derby cover for endless design possibilities. The pre-oiled filters are available in standard or new “SS” variation, while the backing plates come in chrome or wrinkle black.
And the boys at Ness haven’t forgotten the metric customer. Ness offers a full line of Big Sucker kits for metric bikes, too. They have the “big four” covered from the mean green to big red so you can bolt on power with Big Sucker kits available in chrome or black and four different styles.
Team Ness Big Sucker kits are sure to have your bike gulping huge amounts of air instead of sucking it through a straw.
